Raleigh Christmas Parade
The Capital Cup hosted by Sanderson High School is a particularly brutal competition day. It starts out with a rehearsal at Enloe and then it's off to Sanderson for the only two-phase competition in the city...the preliminary round which will select the eight bands that compete in the finals. Then it's time to pack up and return to the school to unload the equipment and the kids who are usually dead-dog tired by this point…
It's not unusual for rehearsals to attract people from the surrounding neighbourhood but today's rehearsal after school was enjoyed by a groundhog who happily wandered about on the hill overlooking the baseball field where the band practices.
Enloe's marching band is well into the competition season which has certainly had it's share of surprises. But none quite lived up to the shock that Nicholas got in frames 14-17 when he noticed one of the on-field judges (the guys walking right in the middle of the performers as they're marching and playing to ensure that everyone is actually making a sound) was more than a little familiar to him.
