My Pleasure!

After a bit of soul-searching and revelation, I've decided I want to start a new tradition where I pick a photo from the past year that is the most meaningful for me and give the dear readers an insight as to why it's the one that reigns supreme. For Alex, it was genuinely no contest as to which one would be the winner. It would be an example of good old British understatement to point…

And…He’s Off!

Alex has been training hard in running track and we were fortunate enough to be able to attend his second meet of the season to see him and the other Unify athletes run the 100m event with their running partners. His first meet was hosted at Sanderson High School and he rode the Enloe team bus but with Katie's lacrosse training, we didn't get there until after he'd already run his race. This time, the…

Wish Finally Granted!

Ever since Alex arrived at Enloe High School a couple of years ago, it was clear that the school spirit was strong with this newly hatched Eagle. Anyone who has followed his story knows full well that he has always had a strong sense of belonging to his school. Indeed, he was so beloved by pretty much anyone working at or attending Washington Elementary School for the many years he was there that he was…

Who Let This 18 Year-Old In Here?

"Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory." Gen George S Patton Alexander is eighteen years old today. Let those words sink in for a minute. Alex’s Night at The Nest

Alex was invited to watch the Enloe Eagles ladies take on the Leesville Pride in basketball from a prime viewing spot at the end of the "bench" right on the floor. And it was clear from the get-go that the former "Mayor of Washington Elementary" has not lost his touch when it comes to getting the love from some of his fellow classmates such as the exceptionally tall player on the boys team who came…

Cue Up “Sweet Georgia Brown”!

In the midst of this manic and mad Saturday, Alexander was invited to a basketball camp for kids with special needs being hosted by several students of Saint Mary's School in downtown Raleigh. After a bit of jiggery-pokery finding the correct entrance and then discovering that there is a front to the building housing the gym and we weren't actually at it, we were welcomed warmly to the gymnasium floor by Miss Chelsea et al.…

Alex Enjoying a Farmer’s Market Treat

There's a lovely gem of a place at the NC State Farmer's Market where they serve Calabash-style seafood just about as good as the real thing. Nice thing about the NC Seafood Restaurant is that they're not on the wrong end of a three-hour journey down I-40 to the SC border! :) Here's Alex enjoying his special treat of popcorn shrimp!
