It’s a new year and already this one is starting out all topsy-turvy and exciting thanks to an adorable little furball who has decided to take ownership of all of us.
Katie’s new puppy Mistletoe (the former “Eggo” from the so-called “Breakfast Litter”) has unabashedly taken centre stage and looks destined to rule us all as hopefully a benevolent monarch.
Mistletoe comes from us via one of her best friends from Carroll Middle School whose mother breeds Australian Labradoodles. Ooodles and oodles of doodles, in fact!
This particular puppy was one that Katie has had her eye on when she found out she was going to get owned by a puppy in the New Year but it wasn’t certain that she was going to be among the ones available to choose. And of the other candidates, there was one named “Muffin” who certainly was the consensus favourite but fate eventually saw fit to bring Katie and the puppy she had fallen in love with together.
And it certainly didn’t take long for the rest of us to get on board! Since I’ve known Julia, this is the third dog she’s had in a little over 20 years. First it was Taz who was mostly pug (and at times pugnacious). I used to love watching him spin madly round and round outside when he’d be doing his business…his nose was always locked in on a single point in space but his heiney never ended up where his nose had initiated the spin! I couldn’t help but laugh at watching his antics!
And then there was Molly who truly never seemed willing to accept the concept of personal space and generally seemed to have more energy than three class-G main sequence stars put together.
I generally tend to prefer cats but these two managed to get to me to the point where I did actually enjoy and love them and they tolerated me…mostly. It took a while but we eventually got there.
Mistletoe took all of three seconds to get me right in the heart. Those beautiful green eyes are so seductive and expressive…and a bit of a challenge to see with all of the curly and wavy fur. But she also has such a sweet and loving aura about her that you can’t help but be sucked into loving her as well.
She’s certainly going to be well-traveled in these first few months going between households because of work and virtual school and she’ll have more than her share of toys and adventures and places to hang out or hide…or sleep!
And if those eyes are anything to go by…”adventures with Mistletoe” is going to be a grand understatement! 😉
