This morning my brother Benjamin finishes off his graduate studies at North Carolina Central University’s School of Library and Information Sciences with a Master’s degree.
Sadly, the weather was not particularly cooperative (and truth be told, the ticket policy as well!) so I got to follow along the ceremony via a livestream which is pretty cool.
So I apologise for the quality of the pictures which were from the iPhone taking screencaps but I don’t apologise in the slightest about how proud I am that he’s made it to this milestone!
He’s already been serving as his school’s librarian for a while now and the pandemic expanded his responsibilities to “duties as assigned” (how many of us had those particular weasel words, eh?) including being the master of the all of the laptops and technology within their four walls!
That Ben would formalise what I’ve always known about him was never in doubt.
He was always that kid that if his nose wasn’t in the book du jour, the book was rarely far from his hand.
His father/my stepfather who is no longer with us and I can certainly appreciate that aspect of his personality.
How many times did we dream of just getting lost in a library and grabbing some random book and taking a journey of discovery into realms fantastic or some exploration of history or whatever happened to land in our hand.
That he gets to do for a living that which he truly loves is quite the blessing. And now he is truly “Master” of his media centre domain!
Well done, Ben! Well done, indeed! 🙂
