Mistletoe was rocking her usual pathetic self wondering when her kids would return before she finally gave up and went to her bed to engage in her usual ladylike snooze.
She was a bit surprised to find herself on the leash and in the co-pilot’s seat of the Traverse soon after.
I’ve said it often that Mistletoe is easily one of the most intelligent dogs I’ve ever known. You could tell she knew the timing was *WAY* off about four hours before we’d usually head out to Enloe to get Alex and Katie but as she was getting a ride, she was perfectly OK with it.
That started to change when we took a much different path than she’s used to and she picked up on that pretty much as soon as we made the turn in what she thought was the wrong direction onto I-440.
When she saw the Garner Town Hall and the Cop Shoppe ™ on Aversboro, I’m pretty sure the penny dropped and she figured something nefarious was happening.
When I pulled into the car park space opposite the groomer’s, let’s just say her look clearly said “the last guy that pulled a stunt like this got thirty pieces of silver for the job!”
You think I’m not reading her expression correctly?
When it came time to meet the nice gent who’d do her grooming, she showed just how powerful the brakes on a 4×4 can be and she was having absolutely nothing to do with him until I picked her up and handed her over.
It’s not that the grooming is particularly bad…I’m sure she’s just not a huge fan of the fur being plucked from the ears and the detangling of the matted fur when she gets into full-on Chewbacca mode.
But the results speak for themselves…she’s such a pretty girl that cleans up nicely.
For at least the next few weeks, that is… 😉
