The best surprises are the ones where the recipient truly had no idea what was coming…make sure you’ve got a camera at hand to capture that wonderful moment when the shock gives them a totally adorable expression.
In this case, it was my very special neighbor Miguel (who I am quite sure will share with his lovely wife Jessica!) who expressed an interest in taking up photography this past summer and will start out that journey with a Nikon D300 that was just put out of a job here at the house with the arrival of the new D810.
I have no doubt they will find many hours of joy in photography as it truly changes how you look at light and life in a world that is often darker than we might like and that’s a very good thing.
Don’t believe me? When you take a few minutes to just enjoy a spectacular sunrise or sunset on a day that might not necessarily have gone your way or been downright wretched and snap a few pictures of the insanely saturated colors then you’ll understand what I mean! The important bit is appreciating life and beauty…the camera just helps us get back to that feeling of peace and serenity from time to time when we need it most! 🙂
I was recently asked what I want to do with photography…well, there it is in a nutshell: illuminating the beauty of life in candid and unexpected ways and sharing it with others.
