Alex was invited to watch the Enloe Eagles ladies take on the Leesville Pride in basketball from a prime viewing spot at the end of the “bench” right on the floor.

And it was clear from the get-go that the former “Mayor of Washington Elementary” has not lost his touch when it comes to getting the love from some of his fellow classmates such as the exceptionally tall player on the boys team who came by and gave him a hug and the young lady wielding a camera who was ready to take his picture thinking he was part of the sports medicine team.

As for the game…it was definitely a trial by fire for the home team. The Leesville press was relentless pretty much throughout and that led to rushed attempts at a pass and turnovers more often than not. Enloe certainly did improve their shooting in the second half and had the most memorable shot of the night launched by #2 from right at mid-court on the final inbounds play…and SANK IT for an epic three-pointer.

Between her look of shock and being mobbed by her team congratulating her on a highlight reel shot, you were hard-pressed to remember they’d lost the game by 30 points.

We ended up staying to cheer on the boys who jumped out to an early lead but could not capitalise on one of their tallest players (#5) being completely wide open right under the rim all night…had they gotten the ball to him as many times as he was open, they’d have won their game handily.
