Today’s gallery of Mistletoe cuteness started out with her being very interested in what was going on outside the house in the cul-de-sac.
Truth be told, it was a day I *NEVER* thought would come after signing up on the short list several years ago in *2015*…they’re finally laying the conduit for Google Fiber in our neighbourhood!
To be sure, we’re still probably a couple of months away from them actually lighting up this end of Raleigh but after watching them first build out apartment complexes and the wealthiest areas of Raleigh (of which this ZIP code is most certainly not!).
But ever since the announcement, I’ve been dreaming of the day that I could send Rectum packing. Being as fair as possible, Road Runner is actually quite a good service and reasonably reliable as long as you’re not out in the boonies somewhere.
Their customer service, OTOH…sucks. Sucks! Ass! On a scale not easily comprehended by mere mortals… 🙁
And the sad part of that is that *I* actually know how networking and DOCSIS works and they’d still be a royal pain to deal with on the one call a year that I’d make when the usual fixes to the service appearing to be down didn’t work (resetting the cable modem and router because they re-partitioned the network again).
These last few years, I’ve not even bothered calling them because dealing with the idiots in Level 1 were enough to make my blood boil and then having to get Level 2 out of the mindset of rolling a truck when I’ve already done all that troubleshooting and more and know the problem’s on their end of the connection.
Nowadays, it’s a quick peek on downdetector.com to see if Road Runner is generally down or it’s just the site I was trying to browse to were amongst the areas they’d screwed and then I’d either bridge the network connection to the phone until Rectum got it’s act together or just go to bed and usually it’d be sorted by the morning.
Now the bright shining future of dramatically better upload speeds awaits…I can’t wait for Google to pull their fibre bundles through the conduit and light us up. Because as soon as their ONT is installed and I’ve got the network back up and running…Rectum is so gone and DirecTV along with them to finally get with cutting the cord.
I’ve liked DirecTV and their DVR was light years better than Rectum’s but it’s clear where the future of TV is and it’s not on a satellite that goes out when the rain comes or the wind blows. And DirecTV’s customer service…not quite as bad as Rectum’s but still nasty and arrogant.
But who am I kidding here?
Here’s the pictures of Mistletoe giving the workers the hairy eyeball you’ve been waiting for… 😉
