Another Saturday finds us at the soccer fields. Katie and Alex’s team drop a 2-0 decision in the early game but the quality of the passing and teamwork was dramatically improved from week one…these girls are really gelling quickly! Unfortunately, no pictures for this game…I was behind the whistle! Best seat in the house…not so hot for taking pictures at the same time!
Nick’s game wasn’t until 1305 so Alex went off to be fitted in hockey gear for the upcoming sled hockey season (it’s actually a recognized sport for the Paralympics) while I refereed one game and observed one of our newer referees in the other game.
Nicholas’ Germany team fell behind 2-0 quickly, scored three unanswered goals, and held on for the 3-3 draw against the defending Spirit Cup champions Sweden.
After all that excitement, it was time to come home and deal with the fun of a hard drive failure in the laptop. Yeah, the drive that houses the photos and Lightroom catalogs and all of the data…not something I really want to lose!
Fortunately, I had very recent backups due to a scare when the RAID array failed to boot properly on Friday so one drive transplant later and the data was being put back onto the laptop drive from the backup in the RAID array. At least I had the opportunity to free up about 100GB by archiving the photos from 2013 so now I’ve got about 200GB to play with.
And the drive that had failed? It decided to work again when I stuck it in the drive toaster so now it’s the offline backup while I use a much younger drive in the laptop. Darn…and I was SO wanting the excuse to upgrade to a solid state drive (SSD)… 🙁
