Nick’s Camry got her permanent number plate today and he got the opportunity to show us those amaze-balls skills of turning a screwdriver. This kid has a future in automotive technology, folks… 😉

Seriously, I remember how much fun it was bolting on the first number plate on a red 1983 Nissan Pulsar NX in Mississippi in May 1986…it was such a symbol of freedom that I could go wherever I wished (within reason!) until it was time to bugger off to North Carolina to visit my mother whilst Dad stayed busy finishing up his time in the Army and retire.

That number plate didn’t last long until it was replaced by a Florida number plate (134 KMZ) when we moved later that year to Port Orange.

So enjoy that proper number plate and the freedom it represents.

Unfortunately, that orange “T” sticker does portend some bad news…there’s a property tax bill that was enclosed with the plate. The state computes and collects property tax on behalf of the counties (this is a relatively recent innovation to combat people playing games with the taxing authorities by requiring tax and registration to be paid at the same time) which is why we didn’t pay that property tax at the dealer.

It used to be that three or four months would pass before you’d see the tax bill on a new or renewed auto registration. Not anymore!

So yeah, a little bad news and some rendering unto Caesar but it is what it is.

Welcome to another installment of adulting! 😉
