Even though Nicholas’ new Camry came home with us late Friday night, a combination of it being a wonderful day to recover from the mad dashing about of the previous two days and the cul-de-sac being completely filled with cars last night meant that Nick’s first drive to work at the helm of his own vehicle was this afternoon.
Don’t let the intent concentration fool you…I can tell you he was doing a big time happy dance in his mind! 🙂
And of course, there’s the obligatory photo op which he hates but tough…a photo monkey’s got to shoot! It’s just who we are at heart… 🙂
A lot of his driving in the coming month or so will be short runs like these (his DQ is just up the street from the house) to get him familiar with the sight lines and comfortable with driving that he wasn’t in my much larger Traverse to make up for the lack of time behind the wheel we’ve had in the past nine months.
So even though he’s got a regular Class C licence, we’re treating it more like a learner’s permit in practice until he becomes acclimated to driving safely.
But if today is any indication…he’s far happier behind her wheel than any vehicle he’s driven so far and that’s half the battle right there. 🙂
