Team Germany found itself contesting for the Spirit Cup after defeating the defending holders Sweden 3-2 on Tuesday with a golden goal in added extra time on Tuesday (sorry, no pictures for that one!).
That set up the finals with heavily favored all-girls Switzerland who had again ruled the regular season. Things were going well for Germany with a 3-1 lead going into the final period however the Swiss girls were not going to be denied by scoring four unanswered goals to take home the Spirit Cup they were denied last season.
Certainly, the boys were disappointed at the loss but they had played their hearts out and left everything out on the field. For the most part, that disappointment disappeared as soon as the trolley containing ice cream and brownies was brought onto the pitch! 🙂
Next season will be here before we know it and hopefully this group will stick together for another shot at the Cup.
