You Know Engineers, They Just Love To Change Things!

I’ve finally gotten round to retiring the original Imagely Journal Genesis-based theme in favour of the new Imagely 2.0 theme which includes the Journal layout.

Hopefully, this will improve the performance between the theme that builds the pages and the Imagely NextGEN galleries contained by them by removing a tonne of outdated code from the site.

I’m toying with converting the galleries to another vendor to hopefully improve the performance of managing albums of which there is about 870 of them containing 3,004 photo galleries.

The site’s performance is perfectly fine but when I’m adding new albums and selecting the thumbnails that appear for them when you’re browsing the albums/galleries by year, it can take 2-3 minutes or more from the time a change is made for the management page to become responsive again.

For right now, I’m content with updating the theme to the current NextGEN standard.

Converting all of the galleries is a much more substantial project that would likely require another big change to the WordPress theme and that was about a three month job the last time we did that!

For now, you might see some weirdness in the pages and posts as I find all of the switches and settings to get the site looking like it was previously (and as I wrote that, there’s one bit of weirdness duplicating the title of the post that I just saw and have to go fix!).

I do apologise for any inconvenience and promise that the site will be back to it’s usual working order presently and appreciate your patience! 🙂
