Whoever said “getting there was half the fun” clearly never tried to find their way to the car park near the Broughton HS stadium near downtown Raleigh.
To get close to it from St Mary’s, you’ve got to cut through a car park and essentially an alley behind the rather imposing (but gorgeous architecture!) of the main building. A couple of laps round the campus and we eventually sorted it out and still ended up parking hell and gone from the stadium!
The athletic facilities were very busy and Alex and I ducked through a back entrance. Sadly this was after already purchasing the tickets as this gate was unguarded and we went in unchallenged. Oh well, can’t beat them all…
The game itself was a physical affair with the real hero of the match being the trainer who had a steady stream of patients visiting her Gator for mending and bandaging and the occasional bag of ice.
But the defence did what they could in front of Miss Delani’s goal and the attackers darned near matched their record for number of goals in a game but fell one short at the final buzzer.
