Enloe’s ladies took to the lacrosse pitch at the friendly but very definitely breezy and chilly confines of Len Bauer Stadium to take on the Sanderson Spartans as the matinee game for Enloe’s super-site matches. The super-site dates are ones that host multiple matches on one day at one location and last week found us fighting Carolina Hurricanes and PNC Arena traffic at Cardinal Gibbons.

And the wind chill.

I’m rather cold-adapted (another way of saying that a panoramic physique is an evolutionary advantage in rare circumstances!) and even I wasn’t particularly enjoying the breezes whipping through the stadium.

I truly felt for those poor girls playing in their lacrosse kit…it certainly wasn’t doing them many favours in the keeping warm department!

I’m not saying it was like being a penguin on a glacier in Antarctica…but it was very unpleasant for those of us who don’t feel cold. With the anoraks and blankets coming out of the cupboards and into the stadium…I think you get the picture.

Anyway, the first half was a cold one that no one was particularly happy with especially on defence. After a time out and some conversations, they did tighten up the holes and slowed down the Sanderson scoring.

But with the arrival of the Len Bauer Loonies ™ very loudly cheering on their Eagles who would eventually be toting boxes of Bojangles and making the rest of us hungry at their mention of dirty rice, the second half spent a lot more time in Sanderson’s end of the field and by the time the final horn sounded, Enloe had scored the most goals they had in a fixture all season with Miss Caroline leading the charge with 5 and Miss Sarah having the other two.

Katie had more than a few touches (scoops?) of the ball and at one point set a brilliant pick that stopped a Sanderson player who was chasing one of her teammates who was hauling it toward the attacking zone. And by stopped I mean *STOPPED*…as in *IN HER TRACKS*.

Immovable object and irresistible force…that’s our Princess Bruiser! 🙂

Unfortunately, there’s no rest for the weary as the next fixture is on Wednesday where the Eagles will face Broughton HS at the Athens Drive HS super-site and once again it’ll be a late evening as they’re the matinee matchup starting at 1900!
