As I’m writing this entry, it seems more than a little appropriate (if not outright ironic!) that Pink Floyd’s “The Trial” (from “The Wall”) is playing in iTunes because I’ve still not lived this one down!
Katie’s dance routine was not until the afternoon and after breakfast, the other members of Purple Troupe decided they had time to do a bit of swimming in the hotel’s pool. They had swimwear available to them.
I was apparently mad enough to think that the water in that pool was going to be frigid at best and that no person in their right mind would ever think of swimming in it! That’s why Katie’s swimsuit didn’t make the trip!
What I didn’t count upon (but probably ought to have!) was the general madness and mayhem that Purple Troupe is capable of!
So not wanting to be left out, Katie decided she wanted to swim anyway and so her pajamas became her swimming costume and into the pool she went! And she and the other Purples were happy as can be splashing about and jumping in and making us question their sanity even more than we usually do for being in that freezing water!
I ended up calling her improvised swim costume “Victorian Retro” which amused more than a few of the Purple moms and the name rather stuck. To this day I can use that phrase and I’ll get some laughs.
There was one Purple mom who wasn’t quite as amused nor impressed with the improvisation and adapting/overcoming the problem of lack of swimwear. Three guesses and the first two don’t count as to who that was… 😉
And that is why it can be snowing outside and I’ll still make sure Katie’s swimwear is packed to go to this very day!
