The big day has arrived and Katie dances in two numbers…the Special Olympics routine with the High Five Buddies (unfortunately, Alex was not feeling well and couldn’t make the trip to Smithfield to dance in this number) and she led her clogging class out onto the stage for a routine set to Dancing in the Streets.

Needless to say, she did an awesome job and I can’t wait to cut the video. Until that happens, enjoy these still pictures that are way better quality now than when we did her first recital thanks to the practice shooting in theatre lighting I get in Fayetteville every now and then! 🙂

For the show itself, of the 1,946 exposures taken…1,915 of them were keepers! If I had *ANY* doubts in the D810 being the undisputed king of theatre shooting, they are long since gone. The shutter is exceptionally quiet even in the “not-as-quiet-as-it-can-be” normal shooting mode, the level of detail that 36 megapixel sensor is capable of is stunning (we’re starting to get close to medium format quality now in a 35mm digital SLR!), and the low-light performance has to be seen to be believed.

What are you waiting for…get clicking, will ya? 🙂
